2019-20 Season Highlights
Jonathan Leshnoff looks forward to many new artistic collaborations and performances of his work in the 2019-20 season. Leshnoff's concerto with Joyce Yang has its premiere this season, with the Kansas City Symphony leading the way and several other orchestras co-commissioning the concerto. Leshnoff also adds another major symphonic work to his cannon, commissioned by the Oklahoma City Philharmonic in commemoration of the Oklahoma City bombing's 25th anniversary; the work will have its premiere in collaboration with the Oklahoma City National Memorial in February 2020. Other season highlights include a new chamber orchestra overture with the IRIS Orchestra, a performance of the new chamber orchestra transcription of Leshnoff's Guitar Concerto with Jason Vieaux and the New Mexico Philharmonic, and performances of Leshnoff's music by Orli Shaham with the Pacific Symphony's Café Ludwig Chamber Series and orchestras including the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, Greenville Symphony, Greenwich Village Orchestra, Northern Tier Symphony Orchestra, and Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra. Following the major acclaim with his recent Naxos CD release, the New West Symphony will perform Leshnoff’s fourth symphony featuring the Violins of Hope in LA in April. Leshnoff also continues this season as composer-in-residence with the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and Fairfax and Harrisburg symphony orchestras.
